The
dorm cluster pictured is one of the seven like it at Eckerd College.
Each dorm cluster consists of four dorms, or "houses",
each of which accommodates about thirty-four students.
The
Alpha, Beta, Gamma, Delta and Epsilon dormitory clusters were
built in 1963 and 1964. Kappa and Zeta clusters were added in
1970. Dorms can be all male, all female, or coed by floor. Eckerd
also offers substance free housing to students who prefer to
live in a dorm in which alcohol and tobacco products are prohibited.
|
 |
| For
students with pets, two of the clusters on campus are designated
"pet dorms" in which students are allowed to have dogs
or cats live with them, provided the animals meet certain requirements. |
 |
| Each
dorm room is furnished with beds, dressers, desks, and chairs.
Any other items must be brought by the students living in the
rooms. Items such as refrigerators and couches are allowed but
are not included with the rooms. Dorm rooms also have closets,
cable TV with approximately 70 channels including HBO and the
Disney Channel, a phone line, and T1 Ethernet connections for
high speed internet access. |
 |
| Dorm
rooms can be single, double, or triple occupancy in size. In
some cases, 2 people will live in a triple-occupancy room or
one person in a double-occupancy room. Each dorm house has a
community bathroom on both floors. Most of the dorms have recently
remodeled bathrooms. And yes, the dorms are air conditioned! |
